Fred Hersch is an American jazz pianist and composer known for his work in small ensembles and as a soloist. The 2019 album "Begin Again" showcases his collaboration with Germany's WDR Big Band under the direction of arranger and conductor Vince Mendoza. The album features nine of Hersch's compositions, reimagined by Mendoza for a large ensemble. The recording took place at WDR Studio in Cologne and was released by Palmetto Records.
