Kristóf Baráti is a Hungarian violinist born in Budapest in 1979. He comes from a musical family; his mother was a violinist and his father a cellist. He began studying the violin under his mother's guidance and later continued with Vilmos Tátrai at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. During his childhood, he lived in Venezuela, where he performed with leading orchestras from the age of eight. In 1997, he won third place and the audience prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. In 2010, he won the Sixth International Paganini Violin Competition in Moscow. Baráti plays the 1703 "Lady Harmsworth" violin made by Antonio Stradivari.
