Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1964. The original lineup included Ronnie Van Zant (vocals), Gary Rossington (guitar), Allen Collins (guitar), Larry Junstrom (bass), and Bob Burns (drums). The band gained fame with songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird." In 1977, a plane crash resulted in the deaths of Van Zant and other members. The band reunited in 1987 with Johnny Van Zant as lead vocalist. In 2006, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Gary Rossington, the last original member, passed away in 2023.
