Masahiro Sugaya is a Japanese composer known for his work in film, television, and the performing arts. His music blends synthesizers, field recordings, and traditional Japanese instruments, achieving a balance between minimalism, ambient, and folk influences. He collaborated with NHK to create soundtracks for documentaries and educational programs. In cinema, he worked as an arranger for the guitar duo GONTITI and contributed to soundtracks for directors like Hirokazu Koreeda. The album "The Pocket of Fever" was originally released in 1987 as a cassette soundtrack for the avant-garde dance company Pappa Tarahumara and is now available on vinyl for the first time.
