Mieczysław Weinberg was a Polish composer born in Warsaw who later emigrated to the Soviet Union. His oeuvre includes 22 symphonies, 17 string quartets, and numerous other works. Weinberg frequently collaborated with Dmitri Shostakovich, who held his work in high regard.
