Nobuyuki Tsujii is a Japanese pianist and composer born in 1988 in Tokyo. Blind from birth, he exhibited exceptional musical talent from an early age. In 2009, he won the gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, becoming the first Japanese and first blind pianist to achieve this honor. Tsujii has performed with numerous prominent orchestras and conductors worldwide, including the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Vasily Petrenko. His discography features recordings of works by Chopin, Rachmaninov, and Beethoven. In 2024, he signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon and released an album featuring Beethoven's "Hammerklavier" Sonata and "An die ferne Geliebte" arranged by Liszt.
