Scanner is a German power metal band formed in 1986 in Gelsenkirchen. Originally known as Lions Breed, the band changed its name and adopted a science fiction theme in their lyrics and performances. They released their debut album, "Hypertrace," in 1988 under Noise Records, followed by "Terminal Earth" in 1989. After several lineup changes and hiatuses, they released "Mental Reservation" in 1995. Their latest album, "The Cosmic Race," was released in January 2024 under Rock of Angels Records.
