The Orb is an English ambient house duo formed in 1988. Founding members Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty became known for their innovative sound collages and use of samples. Their 1991 debut album, "The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld," is considered seminal in the ambient house genre. The follow-up album, "U.F.Orb," released in 1992, reached number one on the UK charts. The Orb has collaborated with artists such as David Gilmour and Lee "Scratch" Perry. Their fifteenth studio album, "No Sounds Are Out of Bounds," was released in 2018 and features contributions from Youth, Roger Eno, and others.
