Yasmine Hamdan is a Lebanese singer and songwriter who gained recognition as a member of the duo Soapkills, one of the first independent electronic bands in the Middle East. After relocating to Paris, she collaborated with producer Mirwais on the album "Arabology" (2009) under the name Y.A.S., and subsequently released solo albums "Ya Nass" (2013) and "Al Jamilat" (2017). Her music blends elements of electronica, pop, and traditional Arabic melodies. Hamdan appeared in Jim Jarmusch's film "Only Lovers Left Alive" (2013) and is considered an icon of underground music in the Arab world.
