The Youth Choir BALSIS, founded in 1987, is a mixed youth choir based in Riga, Latvia. The choir comprises approximately 50 young individuals from Riga and other Latvian cities who are permanent members. Annually, the choir performs about 70 concerts in Latvian concert halls, churches, and open-air venues. Under the direction of conductor Ints Teterovskis since 1998, BALSIS has released 18 CD albums. The 2008 album "Ziemassvētki sabraukuši," created in collaboration with the New York Latvian Concert Choir and the New Chamber Orchestra of Riga, was recognized by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 25 greatest Christmas albums of all time. The choir regularly collaborates with local composers and participates in international festivals and competitions, earning over 30 international awards.
