12 Rods is an American indie rock band formed in 1992 in Oxford, Ohio. They relocated to Minneapolis in 1995, where they remained active until their disbandment in 2004. Their 1996 EP "Gay?" received a perfect 10.0 rating from Pitchfork. Notable albums include "Split Personalities" (1998) and "Separation Anxieties" (2000). After disbanding, members pursued various musical projects. In 2021, frontman Ryan Olcott announced a new album, "If We Stayed Alive," which was released in 2023.
