Abruptum is a Swedish musical project formed in 1989 by Tony Särkkä (known as IT) and Jim Berger (All). The group is known for its experimental approach to black metal, blending elements of dark ambient and noise. Their debut album, "Obscuritatem Advoco Amplectere Me," was released in 1993 under the Deathlike Silence Productions label. After IT's departure in 1996, the project was taken over by Morgan Håkansson (Evil) from Marduk. Abruptum is often described as "the audial essence of pure black evil."
