Adrian Borland was an English singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known as the frontman of the post-punk band The Sound. After The Sound disbanded in 1988, he formed the band The Citizens, releasing several albums including "Alexandria" (1989), "Brittle Heaven" (1992), and "Cinematic" (1995). Their music blended elements of rock and alternative rock. Borland's work was influenced by his personal struggles with mental health, which were reflected in his lyrics and musical style. Although they did not achieve commercial success, they gained a cult following among alternative music fans.
