Al Ayre Español is a Spanish vocal and instrumental ensemble founded in 1988 by harpsichordist Eduardo López Banzo. The ensemble's name is inspired by a guitar fugue by composer Gaspar Sanz. Specializing in the interpretation of Spanish Baroque music, their repertoire includes works by composers such as José de Nebra, José de Torres, Sebastián Durón, and Antonio de Literes. Since 2003, they have expanded their repertoire to include works by composers like Händel, Bach, Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti, Mozart, and Haydn. In 2004, they received the Spanish National Music Award for their contribution to reviving Spanish Baroque music.
