Alexi Tuomarila is a Finnish jazz pianist and composer born on February 27, 1974, in Pori. He studied classical piano at the Espoo Music Academy and later jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, earning a master's degree. In 1999, he formed the Alexi Tuomarila Quartet, which won several international awards, including first place at the Hoeilaart International Jazz Competition. With his trio, featuring Mats Eilertsen on bass and Olavi Louhivuori on drums, he released albums such as "Seven Hills" (2013), "Kingdom" (2017), and "Sphere" (2019). From 2007 to 2017, he collaborated with Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stańko, recording the album "Dark Eyes" (2010) for ECM Records.
