Alfred Brendel is an Austrian pianist, poet, and author, renowned for his interpretations of works by Mozart, Schubert, and Beethoven. Born in 1931 in Czechoslovakia, he studied music in Zagreb and Graz. He was the first pianist to record Beethoven's complete piano works. Throughout his career, Brendel received numerous awards, including the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1989 and the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize in 2004.
