Ame Son was a French progressive rock band, renowned for their 1970 debut album "Catalyse," considered the first French psychedelic rock album. The band was founded by drummer and vocalist Marc Blanc and bassist Patrick Fontaine, both former members of Banana Moon, a precursor to Gong. Their music blended English psychedelic influences with French poetry and free jazz. "Catalyse" was originally released by the avant-garde label BYG Records and was remastered and reissued in 2025. The band is also noted for its connections with groups like Red Noise and Komintern.
