Anke Helfrich is a German jazz pianist and composer who grew up in Windhoek, Namibia, and Weinheim, Germany. She studied jazz piano in the Netherlands and New York City, where she formed her trio in 1996. To date, she has recorded five highly acclaimed albums as a leader, featuring guest artists such as Mark Turner, Roy Hargrove, and Tim Hagans. Her trio has received numerous awards, and in 2016, Helfrich received an "ECHO Jazz Award" for best national instrumentalist in the piano/keyboards category. In 2023, she released the album "We'll Rise," dedicated to inspiring women and forgotten pioneers.
