Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The current lineup consists of three classically trained cellists: Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso. Initially starting as a Metallica tribute band, they later transitioned to a neoclassical metal style without the use of traditional guitars and bass. Notable albums include "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos" (1996), "Cult" (2000), and "Worlds Collide" (2007). The band has collaborated with artists such as Corey Taylor, Till Lindemann, and Adam Gontier. In 2024, they released the album "Plays Metallica, Vol. 2".
