The Arditti Quartet is a British string quartet founded in 1974 by violinist Irvine Arditti. The quartet specializes in the interpretation of contemporary classical music and has premiered hundreds of works by composers such as Hans Abrahamsen, Elliott Carter, György Ligeti, and Iannis Xenakis. Their discography includes over 200 recordings. In 1999, they received the prestigious Ernst von Siemens Music Prize for lifetime achievement, being the only quartet to have received this award. The quartet is known for its technical excellence and close collaboration with composers in interpreting their works.
