Ariel Ramírez was an Argentine composer and pianist, renowned for his contributions to folk music. His most famous work, "Misa Criolla" (1964), blends traditional Argentine rhythms with liturgical texts. Throughout his career, he composed over 300 pieces and sold more than 10 million albums. He collaborated with artists such as Mercedes Sosa and José Carreras. Ramírez served as president of the Society of Authors and Composers of Argentina (SADAIC) from 1970 to 1978 and again from 1993 to 2004. He passed away in 2010 in Buenos Aires.
