Description

'Silentium' is the latest album by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, a pioneer of 'holy minimalism'. This CD features four pieces, including a previously unreleased version of 'Silentium', the second movement of his renowned concerto 'Tabula Rasa', performed by the Boston-based chamber orchestra A Far Cry. This rendition is played at nearly half the speed of the well-known 1984 version, creating a deeply meditative experience. The album also includes 'Vater Unser' arranged for trombone and string ensemble, 'Variationen zur Gesundung von Arinuschka' performed by pianist Marcel Worms, and 'Fratres for Strings and Percussion' interpreted by the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra.
