Aswad is a British reggae group formed in 1975 in the Ladbroke Grove area of London. The original lineup consisted of Brinsley "Dan" Forde (vocals, guitar), Angus "Drummie Zeb" Gaye (vocals, drums), and Tony "Gad" Robinson (bass guitar, keyboards). The band is known for blending reggae with elements of R&B and funk. Their most notable albums include "Aswad" (1976), "Hulet" (1979), "New Chapter" (1981), and "Not Satisfied" (1982). In 1988, they achieved a UK number one single with "Don't Turn Around". Aswad has been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album three times.
