BASta! is the solo project of Belgian double bass player and composer Joris Vanvinckenroye, in which he explores and pushes the limits of the double bass. Using looping and effect pedals, he creates an almost orchestral sound, utilizing the full range of his instrument—from the deepest basses to the highest notes. These layered compositions weave complex rhythms and melodies into a rich and compelling soundscape. The debut album "Cycles" was released in 2009, followed by "Vertigo" in 2018, where BASta! expanded into a duo with flautist Jana Arns. The third album "III" focuses on the theme of repetition, which is fundamental to rhythm in Joris's work. The products available from the artist BASta! include CDs, vinyls.
