empty cell Bathory
Bathory was a Swedish extreme metal band formed in March 1983 in Vällingby. Named after Hungarian countess Elizabeth Báthory, they are considered pioneers of black metal and Viking metal. Their fourth album, "Blood Fire Death" (1988), is regarded as a transition between these two genres. The band ceased live performances in 1985 and never toured; frontman and founder Tomas "Quorthon" Forsberg was the sole constant member and often responsible for all instruments. Bathory ended when Forsberg died from heart failure at the age of 38 in June 2004. The products available from the artist Bathory include CDs, vinyls.
