Beastie Boys were an American hip-hop group formed in New York City in 1979. The members were Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar), Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), and Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums). Initially a hardcore punk band, they transitioned to hip-hop and rap rock. Their 1986 debut album, "Licensed to Ill," was the first rap album to top the Billboard 200 chart. Other notable albums include "Paul's Boutique" (1989), "Check Your Head" (1992), and "Hello Nasty" (1998). The group won several awards, including three Grammy Awards.
