Beggars Opera was a Scottish progressive rock band formed in Glasgow in 1969 by guitarist Ricky Gardiner, vocalist Martin Griffiths, and bassist Marshall Erskine. Their debut album, "Act One," released in 1970, featured tracks influenced by classical music. The following year, they released "Waters of Change," which included their most notable single, "Time Machine." The band was known for its complex arrangements and use of keyboard instruments, particularly the Mellotron. Throughout their career, they underwent several personnel changes and released additional albums, including "Pathfinder" (1972) and "Get Your Dog Off Me!" (1973).
