Ben Allison is an American double bassist, composer, and bandleader known for his contributions to modern jazz. In 1992, he co-founded the Jazz Composers Collective, a non-profit organization focused on supporting the creation and performance of new music. His notable albums include "Peace Pipe" (2002), which blends jazz with African influences, "Cowboy Justice" (2006) featuring political themes, and "Action-Refraction" (2011), comprising reinterpretations of various artists' compositions.
