Bill Carlisle was an American singer, songwriter, comedian, and guitarist, known for his performances in the 1940s and 1950s. Born on December 19, 1908, in Wakefield, Kentucky, he performed with his brother Cliff as the Carlisle Brothers, popular on southeastern radio stations. In 1951, he achieved success with "Too Old to Cut the Mustard," followed by "No Help Wanted" in 1953. He was known for his comedic alter ego "Hot Shot Elmer" and energetic stage jumps, earning him the nickname "Jumpin' Bill." In 2002, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He passed away on March 17, 2003, in Nashville, Tennessee.
