Bill Staines was an American folk musician and singer-songwriter from New Hampshire who recorded 26 albums during his career. His songs, such as "Bridges," "A Place in the Choir," and "River," have been covered by numerous artists including Peter, Paul and Mary, Nanci Griffith, and Jerry Jeff Walker. In 1975, he won the National Yodeling Championship in Kerrville, Texas. Staines regularly appeared on programs like "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Mountain Stage." His music has been featured in various films and television series, including HBO's "Deadwood." He passed away on December 5, 2021, at the age of 74.
