Billy Butler was an American soul singer and songwriter active in the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Chicago, he was the younger brother of singer Jerry Butler. In 1963, he formed the group The Enchanters, later renamed The Chanters. Their biggest hit was "I Can't Work No Longer" in 1965, reaching number 6 on the R&B chart. After the group's dissolution in 1966, Butler pursued a solo career and later formed the group Infinity. With Infinity, he released the album "Hung Up On You" in 1973, featuring tracks like "I Don't Want to Lose You" and "Hung Up on You". Butler also wrote songs for his brother Jerry, as well as for artists like Major Lance and Gene Chandler. He passed away in 2015 at the age of 69 in Chicago.
