Black Country, New Road is an English rock band formed in Cambridge in 2018. The original lineup included Tyler Hyde (vocals, bass), Lewis Evans (vocals, flute, saxophone), Georgia Ellery (violin, backing vocals), May Kershaw (vocals, keys), Charlie Wayne (drums, backing vocals), and Isaac Wood (guitar, lead vocals); guitarist Luke Mark joined in 2019. The band gained attention with their 2019 singles "Athens, France" and "Sunglasses," which blended elements of experimental rock, post-punk, and post-rock. Their debut album, "For the First Time" (2021), was nominated for the Mercury Prize and reached No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart. Their second album, "Ants from Up There" (2022), debuted at No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart. After Isaac Wood's departure in 2022, the band continued creating new material, with Hyde, Evans, and Kershaw taking over vocal duties.
