Bobby Bradford is an American jazz trumpeter, cornetist, bandleader, and composer. Born in 1934 in Cleveland, Mississippi, he grew up in Dallas, Texas. In 1953, he moved to Los Angeles, where he collaborated with Ornette Coleman. After military service, he returned to the jazz scene and formed a long-term partnership with clarinetist John Carter. Together, they released albums such as "Self Determination Music" and "Secrets". In 1971, he recorded with John Stevens and the Spontaneous Music Ensemble in London. Bradford also served as an educator at Pomona College in California, teaching for 44 years. His music is recognized for its contribution to avant-garde jazz.
