Brandi Disterheft is a Canadian jazz bassist and composer recognized for her energetic bass playing and innovative compositions. Born in Vancouver, she studied at Humber College in Toronto before moving to New York City to apprentice under legendary bassist Ron Carter. Her debut album, "Debut," won the 2008 JUNO Award for Traditional Jazz Album of the Year. Other notable albums include "Second Side" (2009), "Gratitude" (2012), and "Blue Canvas" (2016). Disterheft has collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Hank Jones, Oliver Jones, and Vincent Herring. Her music blends traditional jazz with modern influences.
