Buena Vista Social Club was a Cuban musical ensemble formed in 1996. Their 1997 debut album became an international hit and won a Grammy Award. The group revived traditional Cuban genres such as son cubano, bolero, and danzón. Their success led to a documentary film directed by Wim Wenders and a resurgence of interest in Cuban music. Notable members included Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, and Rubén González. The ensemble concluded its activities in 2015.
