Cardinal Sin is a Swedish melodic black/death metal band formed in 1995 in Göteborg by former Dissection guitarist John Zwetsloot. Their sole EP, "Spiteful Intents", was originally released in 1996 and features four tracks: "Spiteful Intent", "Probe With A Quest", "The Cardinal Sin", and "Language Of Sorrow". In 2025, this EP was reissued by Regain Records with three bonus tracks from the same 1995 Berno Studio session: "Fallen From Life’s Enlightened Throne", "Ante Mortem", and a cover of Death’s "Infernal Death". The band is known for its melodic yet raw black/death metal sound reminiscent of Dissection’s "The Somberlain".
