Carolin Widmann is a German violinist born in Munich in 1976. She studied with Igor Ozim in Cologne, Michèle Auclair in Boston, and David Takeno in London. Widmann specializes in contemporary music and has collaborated with notable composers such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, and Wolfgang Rihm. Her significant recordings include "Reflections" (2006) and "Schumann: The Violin Sonatas" (2008). Since October 2006, she has been a professor of violin at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. She plays a violin made in 1782 by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini.
