Carolyn Hester is an American folk singer and songwriter, born on January 28, 1937, in Waco, Texas. She was a significant figure in the 1960s folk music revival. Her debut album, "Scarlet Ribbons," was released in 1957. In 1961, she released the album "Carolyn Hester" under Columbia Records, featuring Bob Dylan on harmonica. Hester was known for her soprano voice and interpretations of traditional folk songs. Throughout her career, she experimented with folk-rock and psychedelic music. She was also politically active, supporting various social movements.
