Carroll Thompson is a British lovers rock singer, known as the "Queen of Lovers Rock". Born in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, she is of Jamaican descent. After classical piano training and singing in school and church choirs, she began her career as a backing vocalist. In 1981, she released her debut album "Hopelessly in Love", featuring hits "I'm So Sorry" and "Simply in Love". She collaborated with artists such as Sugar Minott, Trevor Walters, and Aswad. Thompson won GLR Reggae Awards for Best Female Performer and Best Song in 1982 and 1983. Later, she worked as a backing vocalist for Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and others.
