The Second Symphony, completed at age 23, is an impressive piece inspired by John Hersey's book "Hiroshima." "Verlaine Songs" features six poems by Paul Verlaine, composed for soprano Emma Tring. The Sixth Symphony, written during the Covid-19 pandemic, is dedicated to Robert von Bahr, founder of BIS Records. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales, under the baton of Martyn Brabbins, delivers powerful and emotive performances of these works.
