Eight years after the release of "Blue Maqams," Tunisian oud master Anouar Brahem returns with his new album, "After the Last Sky." Inspired by the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish, this album features chamber pieces for oud, cello, piano, and double bass, blending traditional Arabic musical motifs with elements of jazz and classical music. Brahem's international quartet includes renowned musicians: bassist Dave Holland, pianist Django Bates, and cellist Anja Lechner, who joins the ensemble for the first time. The album was recorded in May 2024 in Lugano and released on March 28, 2025. "After the Last Sky" is a profound musical meditation that will resonate with fans of world music and jazz.
