Product description

'Breaking Point' is a groundbreaking album by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, recorded in May 1964 after his departure from Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. The album features his quintet with James Spaulding on alto saxophone and flute, Ronnie Mathews on piano, Eddie Khan on bass, and Joe Chambers on drums. Together, they explore diverse musical styles, from free-form improvisation in the title track, through modal jazz in 'Far Away', blues in 'Blue Frenzy', to the beautiful ballad 'Mirrors'. This album is considered one of the most significant in Hubbard's discography.
