Description

'Chimet' is the debut album by the collective MINING, bringing together musicians, data scientists, and designers. The album was created by sonifying meteorological data from the Chichester West Pole Beacon during a storm in October 2017. The result is a 67-minute composition that maps the storm's progression through improvised piano and cello passages by Matthew Bourne. 'Chimet' offers a powerful and meditative listening experience that changes with the listener's mood. The album was released on May 17, 2024, on CD and in a limited edition of 504 double vinyl LPs, each with a uniquely designed cover based on storm data.
