Description

Released in 1993, "Ko Sira" is the second album by Malian singer Oumou Sangaré, renowned for her powerful voice and advocacy for women's rights. This album builds upon themes from her debut, with tracks like "Sigi Kuruni" ("Advice to a New Bride") and "Ko Sira" ("Road to the River") being particularly resonant. Recorded in Berlin and entirely written by Oumou, "Ko Sira" intertwines electric guitar and bass with traditional African instrumentation, while her voice soars throughout. This album was voted 'World Music Album of the Year' in 1993.
