'Ngatibatanei / Let Us Unite!' is the second album by Mhondoro, set for release on February 7, 2025. This album, presented in an elegant digisleeve package, blends traditional Zimbabwean music with American jazz and influences from the Pacific Northwest. The result is a unique sound that celebrates the band's diverse roots. Mhondoro, meaning 'lion spirit' in Shona, comprises Israeli saxophonist Idit Shner, Zimbabwean vocalist and percussionist John Mambira, and the Oregon-based rhythm section of pianist Torrey Newhart, bassist Garrett Baxter, and drummer Ken Mastrogiovanni. Together, they create music full of joy and vitality, both global and local in essence. 'Ngatibatanei / Let Us Unite!' serves as a call for unity and kinship, emphasizing the interconnectedness of people.
