Christian Death is an American gothic rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1979 by Rozz Williams. Their 1982 debut album, "Only Theatre of Pain," is considered seminal in the deathrock genre. Subsequent albums like "Catastrophe Ballet" (1984) and "Ashes" (1985) solidified their influence in the gothic rock scene. After Williams' departure in 1985, Valor Kand took over leadership, continuing to produce albums including "American Inquisition" (2007). The band is known for its provocative lyrics and dark aesthetics, influencing numerous bands in the gothic and deathrock genres.
