Christian Jost is a German composer and conductor born in 1963 in Trier. He studied composition and conducting in Cologne and at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Jost has composed nine operas and numerous symphonic works, which have been performed by leading opera houses and orchestras worldwide. His opera "Hamlet" was named "World Premiere of the Year" by the German music magazine Opernwelt in 2009. In 2020, his opera "Egmont" premiered at the Theater an der Wien. Jost has served as composer-in-residence for several German orchestras and was awarded the Ernst von Siemens Composer Prize in 2003.
