Chthonic is a Taiwanese metal band formed in 1995 in Taipei. Their music blends elements of symphonic black metal, melodic death metal, and traditional Taiwanese music, incorporating instruments like the erhu. Lyrics often draw from Taiwanese mythology and history. Notable albums include "Seediq Bale" (2005), "Mirror of Retribution" (2009), and "Takasago Army" (2011).
