Chucho Valdés is a Cuban pianist, bandleader, composer, and arranger whose career spans over 50 years. In 1973, he founded the group Irakere, one of Cuba's best-known Latin jazz bands. As a solo artist, he has won seven Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammy Awards. Notable albums include "Jazz Nocturno" (1964), "Bele Bele en la Habana" (1998), and "Live at the Village Vanguard" (2000). Valdés is renowned for his contributions to Afro-Cuban jazz and has collaborated with artists such as Paquito D'Rivera and Arturo Sandoval.
