The Cleveland Quartet was an American string quartet founded in 1969 in Cleveland, Ohio. The original members were Donald Weilerstein (first violin), Peter Salaff (second violin), Martha Strongin Katz (viola), and Paul Katz (cello). The quartet was renowned for its interpretations of works by Beethoven, Bartók, and Mendelssohn. Throughout their career, they received several awards, including a Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance. In 1995, after 26 years, the quartet disbanded.
